The Cohen Laser and Vision Center is a state-of-the-art eye care facility located in the heart of Palm Beach County, Florida. Since 1985, G. Richard Cohen, MD, our medical director and head LASIK surgeon, has been providing residents of Fort Lauderdale and other South Florida communities with the very best in eye care. We specialize in LASIK, custom LASIK, IntraLase®, intraocular lens implants, and other vision correction procedures.
Through weekly open house events and periodic seminars, we aim to educate individuals about the services we offer at the Cohen Laser and Vision Center. During these times you will have the opportunity to meet Dr. G. Richard Cohen and his staff, view our facilities, and ask any questions you may have about laser vision correction. Our open house events also allow you to view live vision correction surgeries as they take place. Patients will even be available to talk with, both before and after their laser vision procedures.
Through the practice of our LASIK surgeon, Fort Lauderdale residents have access to the latest in laser vision correction technology. Our offices house two sterile laser surgical suites, one is equipped with the VISX® S4 CustomVue™ laser. This is the most advanced FDA approved excimer laser in the United States.

Our chief refractive surgeon, G. Richard Cohen MD, is an internationally recognized, board certified ophthalmologist and diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a fellowship trained corneal specialist and is among an elite group of ophthalmologists in South Florida who specialize in diseases, surgery of the cornea, and laser vision correction.
Furthering his reputation as a pioneering LASIK surgeon, Dr. G. Richard Cohen recently developed and trademarked two new laser vision correction procedures: B-LASER™ and Phasik™. In addition, his private practice near Fort Lauderdale was the first in the state of Florida to perform the extraordinary LASEK procedure, which is widely considered to be one of the safest modern laser vision correction procedures. Dr. Cohen is also the first LASIK surgeon to own a permanent excimer laser in South Florida and was among the first ophthalmologists in the United States to perform CK® (Conductive Keratoplasty).
After graduating with honors from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Dr. Cohen completed his postdoctoral training in Cornea and External Disease at Tufts-New England Medical Center and Cornea Research at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Cohen currently is a research investigator for a variety of ocular diseases and has published his findings in numerous medical journals. He has also served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at the West Boca Medical Center.
